Whether you've never touched a guitar or you've got some years under your belt, my approach will help you to strengthen your playing and learn to express yourself through the instrument.

Hi, I’m Andrew!

With over 20 years' experience of playing, studying and composing on the guitar, I’ve performed in genres including indie, rock, folk, progressive rock, funk, and jazz, playing all over Toronto in some of the city’s most historic venues.When I teach, I focus on a balance of theory and feel. You’ll learn basics like scales, modes, sight reading, time feel, and harmony, while also learning your favorite songs to keep lessons fun and motivating.

A Structured Approach

The first few weeks we will focus on learning the basics, including the notes on each string, how to read basic music notation, and work on some basic exercises to build familiarity with the instrument.From there we will focus on learning songs, scales, and building chords to begin making music!Over time you will begin to apply what you've learned to begin improvising over chord changes and really start to express yourself through the instrument.Each lesson you will be given some work to practice on your own in the form of exercises, songs and etudes to help you learn quickly and make continuous progress.
